Sorintellis and Québec Research Partners Join Forces to Advance VALOQIS™, Its AI-Powered Pharmaceutical Decision Intelligence Platform

A CA$1 million research initiative supported by Médicament Québec will advance AI-driven approaches to clinical trial design, protocol optimization, and operational risk assessment.

MONTRÉAL, Québec — October 20, 2026 — Sorintellis, a Montréal-based life sciences technology company, today announced its participation in a CA$1 million industry–academic research initiative alongside Vantage BioTrials and Québec researchers to advance artificial intelligence solutions for clinical trial design and optimization.

Supported by Médicament Québec, the initiative brings together industry and academic expertise in artificial intelligence, causal inference, clinical research, and data science to address persistent challenges in pharmaceutical research and development.

Clinical trials are complex, costly, and exposed to interconnected risks that can be difficult to anticipate during study design and protocol development. These challenges can contribute to delays, increased costs, inefficient resource allocation, and costly failures in later stages of drug development. Identifying potential risks earlier could help pharmaceutical teams make better-informed decisions before trials begin.

The project will investigate AI-powered approaches to improve clinical trial protocol design and feasibility assessment, alongside an agentic AI system designed to identify potential operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Turning Clinical Development Data into Actionable Intelligence

The initiative builds on Sorintellis’s integrated technology ecosystem, combining TrialsBank™, its proprietary clinical development data infrastructure, with VALOQIS™, its AI-powered decision intelligence platform.

TrialsBank™ organizes and contextualizes fragmented clinical development information across multiple risk dimensions. This unified data foundation is designed to support advanced AI models and decision-support applications across pharmaceutical R&D.

Built on TrialsBank™, VALOQIS™ transforms clinical development data into predictive analytics, interpretable insights, and actionable recommendations. Its capabilities span clinical trial design and optimization, operational risk prediction, development forecasting, pharmaceutical asset valuation, and R&D portfolio optimization. Through this research initiative, Sorintellis and its collaborators aim to advance AI capabilities that help pharmaceutical development teams evaluate protocol alternatives, assess operational feasibility, anticipate risks earlier, and allocate resources more effectively throughout clinical development.

The academic collaboration brings together Professor Marc-André Legault (Université de Montréal and CHU Sainte-Justine), Professor Audrey Durand (Université Laval), whose expertise includes reinforcement learning, and Professor Mireille Schnitzer (Université de Montréal), specializing in biostatistics and machine learning for health sciences, alongside industry partners.

Research partners: Sorintellis, Vantage BioTrials, Médicament Québec, Université de Montréal and Université Laval

“The pharmaceutical industry doesn’t lack data; it lacks the intelligence to turn fragmented information into better decisions. Through this project, we’re advancing VALOQIS™, our AI-powered decision intelligence platform, built on TrialsBank™, our proprietary, expert-curated, AI-ready clinical development data infrastructure. Together, they aim to transform clinical development data into actionable insights for better study design, protocol optimization, earlier risk prediction, and more efficient R&D—helping accelerate drug development,” said Emmanuel Piffo, BScPharm., DESS., MSc., MBA, Founder and CEO of Sorintellis.

By connecting industry needs with Québec’s research strengths in artificial intelligence and pharmaceutical development, the initiative aims to advance practical AI solutions for clinical trial optimization. Its long-term ambition is to make clinical development more predictable, resource-efficient, and data-driven, supporting better-informed decisions from protocol design through trial execution.

Original announcement: Médicament Québec invests CA$1.2 million in four industry–academic collaborations.
